Are you buying a BMW car with over 160000 km or 100000 miles?
As in the previous episodes, I do a 160 tkm service for my BMW F20 car
Diagnosis & maintenance BMW F20 116 2013 engine N13 (N13B16)

Check the elongation of the timing chain with a special tool
Without having to open the motor!
There are no extra noises from the engine or timing chain
The only thing I’ve noticed: At idle, the engine revs may occasionally fluctuate after starting
00:33 Remove intake silencer housing
01:19 Remove acoustic cover
Pull of vacuum lines from vacuum tank and remove acoustic cover
01:53 Remove chain tensioner
Keep the cleaning cloth under the escaping oil
The chain tensioner is broken!!
Old chain tensioner version is "V 7597895 8002 IWIS"
The tensioner spring appears to be twisted
04:00 Measure timing chain elongation
Special tool 2353281 (117200) for measuring timing chain elongation
The price of the special tool was 29,90€ from www.xxlautomotive.de
Engine N13: Screw in special tool WITHOUT shim
Timing chain is OK if protrusion is detected on special tool (measuring pin)
Torque for chain tensioner for N13 is 80 Nm
If a short length or flush distance is detected on special tool (measuring pin), the timing chain and chain tensioner must be renewed
Crank engine at constant speed in direction of rotation 4 times
Do not turn the engine against the direction of travel
Determine minimum dimension on special tool with the aid of a second person
Keep the measuring pin in the tensioner under constant observation
Determine minimum dimension on special tool
Flush distance is detected on special tool (measuring pin)!
The timing chain and chain tensioner must be renewed!

The special tool is slightly shorter than the actual chain tensioner
Looks like there are cracks in the water pump drive wheel!
Checking the condition of the filtered air pipe
Cracks in the air tube around the neck!

The filtered air pipe and water pump drive wheel must also be replaced!
Condition of the (Hotfilm) air mass meter
I think I'll clean it later with an air mass cleaner
