Mazda said years ago they were moving upmarket, yet they continue to push value as one of the main reasons to consider their CUVs and SUVs. Is that a flaw when the value portion of the equation impacts a core Mazda value like handling? The CX50 is a solid example of this internal conflict. They finally gave it wider tires, but the lack of an independent rear suspension really prevents serious drivers from crossshopping it with Acura or Lincoln. That said... There's a lot to love about the 2.5L turbo model and I'd probably buy it before I bought a Lexus NX...
