Dr Rogers examines a dog that presented for possible painful teeth. This dog was experiencing pain when opening his mouth and chewing. We treated him for suspected masticatory myositis and he responded very well to treatment. Diagnostic tests are available with a blood test (there is approx a 15% chance of a false negative) or a muscle biopsy can be performed.
