Not happy with your LinkedIn profile?

Neither was I.

I wanted to revamp it.

So, I spent a few hours analyzing the profiles of top creators with tens of thousands of followers.

I checked out creators like Jasmin Alić, Charles Miller, and Justin Welsh to see what works.

Here’s what I found out:

I’ll assume you already have a professional headshot ;)

1/ Use a Striking Profile Banner

Top creators use clearcallactions and captivating images about what they do in their banners.

They also use compelling social proof. Justin shows off logos of big publications that featured him.

Design a pro banner with Canva.
Hiring or Offering services? Include a persuasive call to action.
Add badges of honor: publications, achievements, testimonials.

2/ Write a Onetwo Sentence Headline.
Summarise what you do and how you can help others. Use industry keywords. Include a call to action. Charles asks people to take his free branding course.

Try this template:

I help X with Y accomplish Z.

X = your target audience

Y = what you do

Z = the outcome

Pro Tip: Use Unicode text for standout formatting like bold and italics.

3/ Use LinkedInPro
LinkedIn isn’t the cheapest, but you can add additional buttons and links above the fold.

Many creators use these to link to their newsletters, Calendly links, or websites.

4/ Show Off Your Work in The Featured Section
Use the Featured Section to showcase your best work prominently. Links and portfolios work great. Alić links to his coaching offer.

Jasmin Alić uses visually appealing imagery that links to his best content and services.

Justin Welsh links to one of his courses.

Use an Instagram Canva template and upload it to the featured section.

5/ Turn on Creator Mode
Highlight your expertise through hashtags that resonate with your content. You can pick up to five.

It’s great for showcasing content you’re creating for LinkedIn and improving reach.

6/ Providing Services
Here, you can add several services you offer followers, like coaching, a course, or a consultancy.

7/ Give Away a Lead Magnet
Top LinkedIn profiles don’t just ask people to follow them. They give away something for free to build a newsletter.

8/ Tell Your Story in About Sections
The about section is buried below the fold. Here, write your services and share your journey and expertise.

I spent two hours refining my profile. Here’s the TL;DR

Profile content above the fold is the most important.

Use a strong, visually distinctive profile banner.

Explain what you do with a onesentence headline.

Remember: Check your profile on both desktop and mobile for a consistent look.
