Part of the challenge we’ve had with solar power off grid is that we wanted to start out small and scale our way up to a larger system. We started with 120 watts in portable solar panels which worked great to keep our RV battery topped off and quickly we upgraded to a 480 watt system. While we’re still living in an RV, we’re not “RVers”, we’re closer to needing a whole home setup. Now that we’re more settled about about to start the construction of our permanent home, we’ve long outgrown our 480 watt system. We’ve had some secondhand solar panels in our storage unit for quite some time and now that we’ve upgraded to the FLEXmax 80 charge controller, we’re able to put them to use and the power we’re able to generate from the sun will multiple overnight!
