Manx cats are one of the most popular cat breeds for their lack of a tail and for having a doglike playful personality. These tailless cats first appeared in the 19th century from the Isle of Man. They made a substantial portion of the total cat population of the Isle of Man, located almost halfway between England and Ireland. There are many folktales about how the lack of a tail in these cats started. The main reason behind the Manx cat origin is believed to be a genetic mutation.

Manx cats make wonderful pets. They are friendly, loving, agile, and love to play. The tailless cats were known as ‘stubbin’ colloquially in the Manx Gaelic language. Manx cat personalities differ from one to another.
