The difference between Malatang and Hot Pot is that Malatang is self service build your own hotpot. Get a bowl and choose all the ingredients for your hotpot from veggies, meats, seafood, noodles, including the hotpot base soup that varied from Szechuan hot sauce, tomato base, mushroom and dry hotpot. Dry hotpot means the hotpot base will be stir fry with the ingredients and garlic which makes it more aromatic our preference. Also, we normally drink the Chinese sweet sour prune or plum drink called Suan Mei Tang everytime we are having hotpot or malatang. Have you tried Malatang and the sweet sour plum drink?
