A lot of the issues I see in amateur golfers begin with how they put their hands on the club. I have players ask, "Can my grip be too strong?"

Ultimately, yes, you can overdo just about anything. But, if the issue is that your club face is open at impact when your arms straighten and you're fighting to twist or turn your hands to keep from slicing, strengthening your grip is essential. It is possible to have too strong of a grip. However, that is nowhere near the two most common problems when it comes to grip.

Whether you're coming over the top and slicing the ball, or the club face is closed through impact and you're duckhooking the ball, how your hands go on the club makes all the difference.
