Making Ammonia Perchlorate (APCP) Rocket Engines

Follow
Cranial Construction

It's one of the best composites for a solid rocket engine, so much so that it made up the 2 booster engines for the Space Shuttle. I use off the shelf silicone in this composite. As there were no clear instructions that I could find, I went through several mix iterations before I found one that worked successfully. It turned out to be the fastest, most powerful, DIY rocket engine I've made so far. And, it turned out to be waterproof. So, that was weird.
