This video is about making a blanket chest for my daughter.
It's made with 36 separate handcut dovetails. Also, she wanted multiple woods, so I choose cherry for the sides, tiger maple for the top, the bottom is made of white cedar (to encourage bugs to leave), and, the legs are made of walnut.
Shaker craftsmanship is evident in the Blanket Chest in both its design and its construction, which depicts handcut dovetail joints. Compared with machine cut dovetails, these challenge the creator’s skills and are beautiful to observe.
