I will post the next video showing why this derailment happened along
with a second video to follow of the damage the locomotive sustained, so watch those 2 upcoming videos to get your questions answered as to why this happened and how the locomotive fared, will in that latter video also share how Hulcher re railed the locomotive.

Will also be posting pictures of various stages of the event in the Community Room
on my channel so keep checking back to that tab or subscribe and click turn notifications
on and you'll get updates automatically. Here's link to my channel

I spliced 4 videos together I took that evening so you didn't have to wait and watch all
4 separately. Will also post all the videos of this on a playlist on my channel ccrx 6700. There will be like 7 more videos coming up about all of what went on including some on them putting the track back together.

No one was hurt or injured, only the company's pocketbook...LOL The derailment happened
on Wednesday April 21 about 5 PM. On that Saturday afternoon about 1 PM I tamped this and they ran
a train over it by 2:30 on slow order. Everyone involved in getting the rolling stock
re railed and the track back in service did a phenomenal job! They worked around
the clock with very long hours for everyone.

This occurred on the Cumberland Mine Railroad near Kirby Pa. on curve18 at mile post 4 with the train headed EB with loads. I will also
post several more videos about them putting the track back together. We had about
1400 feet of track torn out along with almost 700 cross ties destroyed.

Memory is serving me better now than in the videos, it has been since 1993 when we've had
this kind of main line destruction. We had several derailments back before then where
6 or 7 cars have come off and rolled over loaded and several derailments caused by
bad bearings, but this is the worst track tear up we have ever had. Several
of the contractors who came in said this is some of the worst rail destruction they had
ever seen.

I will give you a clue before my next video on why the derailment happened. If you have watched Thomas the Tank Engine, then you know that all the derailments in that show were
caused by the silly cars because they were angry! LOL But if there is any doubt we will
call Sir Topham Hatt and he will get to the bottom of this.

Here is the link to watch my theory on what caused the derailment:
   • Why the Derailment at Curve 18  Happened

Thank you so much for watching. Track is back in service and train is running at track speed, and in case you are wondering, it's 25 MPH track speed, the operator on the derailment was running at 22 MPH when this happened. He had followed standard operating procedures
for this section of track. The end of train DPU was in throttle run 3 when
this happened, the lead loco operator was just getting ready to go to idle on that
end of train unit when the train went into emergency. This is only the second time in it's history that our #1 locomotive has ever been derailed and it's been running this track since
1977! The company is also looking into having some track panels on hand to use in'
case this kind of problem should occur in the future. Having track panels available
would have probably saved a whole day in the reconstruction.
