Madeira - Azores Trip

We are excited to share a detailed account of our recent trip to Madeira and Azores, Portugal. Our journey started with a flight from Montreal (YUL) to Ponta Delgada (Azores) with Air Azores, followed by a short flight south to Madeira. The flights were comfortable, and we enjoyed the inflight meals and entertainment.

We spent a total of 5 nights in Madeira, where we had the opportunity to explore the stunning natural beauty of the island. We visited several gardens, including the Botanical Garden of Madeira and the Palheiro Gardens. The gardens were wellmaintained, and the variety of flora and fauna was impressive.

During our stay in Madeira, we also explored the downtown area, which was bustling with activity. We visited local markets, shops, and cafes, and enjoyed the delicious local cuisine. We also had the chance to visit a couple of communities along the coast, which offered stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape.

One of the highlights of our trip was a walking tour of the levadas, which are irrigation channels that crisscross the island and are a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour was led by a knowledgeable guide who shared interesting facts about the history and significance of the levadas. The scenery was breathtaking, and we were able to see different parts of the island that we would not have been able to access otherwise.

On our way back home, we spent a night in the Azores, which gave us enough time to explore the charming town of Ponta Delgada. We were impressed by the architecture, history, and culture of the town, and we are already planning to return in the future!

Overall, our trip to Madeira and the Azores was an unforgettable experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enriching travel experience.
