We have started our observations of the Wildcat Mountain golden eagles, and as luck would have it in the last issue of Raptor Chronicles we reported that the pair was back together. This time, however, Peter got even luckier when he visited on February 4th and recorded the activities you will see in the video above. If this was more than just a bit of foreplay, the female should be on egg(s) by the time this video arrives in your mail box. Valentine's Day timing for sure! We will keep our fingers crossed for this historic nest location to become productive again this year. Last year two eaglets fledged, which for golden eagles is most unusual. Prior to last year, the pair had failed to produce any young for a number of years. This year, a cellular camera has been installed to monitor the nest directly. Those images, however, will not be available in real time. Peter will continue his visits to record activities at the nest as often as possible. Stay tuned as we continue to report on this historic aerie 30 minutes south of Denver on the front range our Colorado's stunning Rocky Mountains.
