Los Angeles Clean Streets Operations - Illegal Dumps Pt. 4

Follow
North Central Refuse

Just when you think the city was bad enough with this humanitarian crisis, you see something like this and know it can be worse. The other three parts to this series? Forget about those cleanups, they were minimal compared to this atrocity. By far, this was the most disgusting, heavy, and saddening cleanup I've ever been to. This wasn't even the entire thing, these crews were in this alley the entire day. The alley was flooded down with all this debris, the footage we got was simply the end of it.

When you think about illegal dumps like this, you think about the numerous amount of homeless tents with trash surrounding them. It's rare to even think businesses are part of the problem. Unfortunately, it's a lot of issues I will list in this description. The city (particularly the mayor's office) has a tough time identifying these issues, so here you go:

0:00 Over here it's obvious that most of the dumpings are coming from this business, two empty dumpsters. If I had to draw a conclusion here, it could very well be that their "RecycLA" bill is too damn high. Or they can't afford extra capacity containers. The business kept on dumping while sanitation was there, absolutely no shame in it too. In fact, we drove back to this place two weeks later, and sure enough, the place was starting to look like the video we just took.

10:27 Over here you can see this homeless man in his encampment, all the trash that's meant to be thrown away yet he and many others take items (as you see) that are meant to be thrown away. Now his encampment is not only messier, but it will grow bigger over time. Unfortunately, the former "sweeps" are no longer, and most homeless refuse when Sanitation offers to take their trash.

11:11 Finally, this city's rat infestation that they struggle to tackle, although it's not to hard to distinguish that the rats are attracted to illegal dumps and trash heaps like this. All throughout the city (especially the inner city) these varmints are running all over the place. Not even hiding anymore lol.

Sorry for the extremely long description, I'm just over all of this. At the same time, I was very glad to document this, this is the real side of Los Angeles tourists refuse to show and our leaders choose to neglect. Get it together LA. There's so much more that has to be addressed based on this problem, but we'll just have to wait for the next video on this topic.
