In 1995 Disney made a big attempt at netting a second Best Picture nomination after Beauty & the Beast. A highly fictionalized version of the real Pocahontas's life was poised to be something big...and it attracted 'meh' responses from critics, and serious 'nay!'s from Native American activists.

We're now over twenty years removed from the days when Pocahontas was seen as Disney's first misstep in the Renaissance. How does the film hold up?
