This video is Part 1 of line boring and bore welding a Caterpillar 730 Articulated Dump Truck Aframe that has a badly worn eye causing the bushing to be loose. We are using our Sir Meccanica WS2 portable inline boring and bore welding machine. First we need to remove a seized bolt on the Aframe footing before removing 3 broken bolts that hold the retaining plate to the eye. We then use the Sir Meccanica centering device to set the bearing mounts for positioning the line boring machine. The eye position has been so badly worn and bolt holes damaged that we need to line bore out a huge amount of damaged material and bore out to the depth of the bolt holes. We position and tack weld a run off ring to the eye, hand weld to fill the bolt holes before line boring again to give a clean surface ready for the bore welding in Part 2!
