Lake Champlain is up to 10 miles wide and 120 miles long. Beneath the waves it ranges in depth all the way down to an astonishing 400 feet. In the shallow zone that is constantly bathed in sunlight, there is an explosion of life. Hidden on the aquatic grasses are tiny fish while huge predator species swim above on a constant patrol. There are over 80 species of fish in Lake Champlain so it really is like a giant freshwater inland sea. Invasive species like Zebra Mussels have taken over the sunlit zones of the massive lake. "Life in the Shallows" continues as predator and prey species continue their ancient relationship on lifers amazing journey.
