Meet Liberty, the 22 year old male Bald Eagle!. Liberty came to WBS from a rehabilitation center in Florida, where he had been treated for injuries following a collision with a vehicle. Although he healed, the veterinarians determined that he could not be released back into the wild. Liberty is a wonderful eagle to work with, and he serves as a great ambassador for his species as he educates thousands of people every year!

Quick facts about Bald Eagles:

Bald Eagles get their white head and tail starting at 4 years old.
They get their name from the Old English word "balde" meaning white.
Bald Eagles build some of the largest nests in the world. The largest on record being 9.5ft wide, 20ft tall, and weighing over 2 tons!
Bald Eagles are fish eagles, with around 80% of their diet consisting of fish.
