Leverage and trading styles are often closely related... Every trader develops their own favourite trading style. The 'position traders' use longer time frames and generally avoid leverage so that they don't rack up the little 'overnight fees' and 'weekend fees' which come with it.

'Swing Traders' use shorter time frames from a few days to a few weeks, and they tend to avoid it to for the same reasons, but the shorter time frame people the 'day traders' and 'scalpers' often employ leverage due to the fact that they don't hold their positions overnight and therefore don't incur the additional charges. They also need the extra multiplier effect as the assets they're trading don't generally move that much in one day...
