On the Merseyrail network, the old Class 507/508 units are being replaced by modern "space age" Class 777 trains. The first one entered service in January 2023. so it was was time to go and take a trip to Liverpool and ride them for the day ...

NOTE: The part where you can tap your foot and reopen the doors only works where the train is at a stand still at a terminus station as it was for us at Kirkby not scheduled to leave for another few minutes, so we weren’t holding things up.
