One of the best and most exciting ways to learn and practice your hacking skills is with live CTF competitions.

If you're not familiar with CTFs, it stands for Capture the Flag.

A capture the flag event is a competition where participants try to solve securityrelated challenges and find hidden flags.

A flag could be an answer to a specific question or a secret string of characters.

There are different types of CTF, but they usually test the participant's skills in various areas, such as cryptography, reverse engineering, web exploitation, and binary exploitation.

The goal of the competition is simple, to find as many flags as possible.

The person or the team with the most flags will score higher on the leaderboard and can even win big prizes!

Not only does this get you learning and practising your skills, but it gets you involved with the community, making new connections and friends along the way.

So where do you find these CTF competitions?

Well, it just so happens that Hack the Boxs annual Cyber Apocalypse CTF is about to start this weekend on the 18th of March!

Each year the event follows a different storyline.

This year we are following the story of Pandora, a famous archaeologist hacker, and her race to find an ancient relic to save the earth from an alien species.

As you work your way through 40+ challenges, you will uncover more of the storyline.

This makes Cyber Apocalypse a truly gamified CTF experience.

The hacking challenges cover a range of topics Web, Pwn, Crypto, Forensics, and more.

They have invested heavily in making this CTF super beginnerfriendly, even more so than past events.

This means that no matter your skill level, beginner or intermediate, anyone can take part, have a great time, and really learn a lot.

They even have live hacking workshops the day before the event.

The workshops will give you tips and tricks to help you succeed during the CTF.
