Conrad Hicks is one of South Africa’s leading art blacksmiths whose greatness is tempered in his humility and passion for molding copper and steel.

This master of metal sees his work as part of a continuous line of human toolmaking and the artistic expression which came from it, dating back to the Stone Age, two and half million years ago.

You can find Conrad’s latest works at Southern Guild in the V&A Waterfront until 20 February 2022, where his solo exhibition explores the expressive potential of copper in his sculpture series titled Cu.

He also has culinary works displayed throughout restaurateur Peter Tempelhoff’s African and Japaneseinspired FYNdining establishment in Cape Town City Centre that boasts incredible views and cuisine fit for an award winning restaurant.
