Online media offer a unique platform for sharing your work, and video abstracts are increasingly used to communicate and promote the results of scholarly enquiry. Creating a good research video, however, may pose unfamiliar technical and communications challenges. Apart from the technical aspects of recording and editing, video requires an attention to the visual and a presentation style that is different from that of a talk presented in person. In this workshop, Renee Basick Foster (Director of Communications and Events in the Division of the Social Sciences) and Ben Kolak (B.A. ’09, Filmmaker at Scrappers Film Group) will offer guidelines and answer questions on how to design research videos that will reach the wider public and get your point across.
