The most difficult part of flight training in my opinion is landings. They are one of the more difficult proficiency items too which is one reason I believe there is a requirement to do 3 takeoffs and landings within the preceding 90 days in order to fly with passengers. After all, nobody wants to fly with a pilot that can't land..
