Legacy on the Lake
Civilian Conservation Corps workers spent years building this special park in the heart of Texas. Today, their legacy endures. Stay in a historic cabin, walk the scenic trails, or play in or on the cool lake.

Things to Do
Water sports
The park sits on the shore of the 7,300surfaceacre Lake Brownwood. Reel in a fish, explore the lake by boat, or go for a swim. You can also water ski, Jet Ski and paddle.

Activities on land
Hike nearly six miles of trails. Rest on CCCbuilt benches along the way, and take in the view from the scenic and historic pavilion. Most trails are for hiking only, but the 2.89mile Nopales Ridge Trail is also open to biking.

Hold your next reunion or meeting at one of our group halls. The CCCbuilt recreation hall is made of local natural materials, and its outdoor dance pavilion overlooks the lake.

Civilian Conservation Corps
The CCC built cabins, lodges, group facilities, benches, roads and more at the park. Be sure to visit the grand staircase, which early visitors climbed when they arrived by boat to attend dances at the pavilion.
