Captured on the evening of September 1st, 2017, with a 5D Mark IV and a 100400mm lens with a 2x extension. At the time of the shooting, the fire was already huge, but it grew much larger by the next day.

Over 5,000 acres have burned so far, making this the largest fire in Los Angeles history. We were there to document it from several angles, close to the origination point just north of the 210 freeway, and also south by the evacuated Brace Canyon area.

As a heat wave strikes California, a combination of conditions work against firefighters: temperatures of up to 106 degrees and 50 mph gusts of wind.
