A chat about the granddaddies of all model engineering and fitting & turning/machinist project idea books these are by the famous English model engineer, George Thomas, and the Canadian Guy Lautard. The books describe everything from how to build a versatile dividing head capable of generating prime numbers, to lathe cutter holders, line boring bars, retracting toolpost for screwcutting on the lathe, etc. In the video I show a dividing head with micrometer attachment that uses a worm wheel to advance the whole division plate at the end of every cycle. Fellow YouTuber Stefan Gotteswinter shows a little of the machining process employed when he built the same tool encourage him to show more of it! Also, Greg Halligan (Halligan142) bemoans the dearth of machine shop projects well, with these books, there are enough fascinating projects for YEARS in the workshop!
