Fred Rogers' program, “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood,” featured Koko the Gorilla in a 1998 episode. Fred emphasized the power of love for animals and how there are human aspects to the way animals think and feel. Koko is seen hugging Mister Rogers and teaching him how to do sign language.
