Koala Mum and Joey Receiving Treatment at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital

Follow
Currumbin Wildlife Hospital

Poor little Flora is visiting Currumbin Wildlife Hospital because her Mum Athena has been suffering from chlamydia. It's important that all joeys receive a health check too & here you can see Flora being weighed inside our hospital.

Mum & Bub will be spending time in our koala rehab until it's time for release back into the wild. Thank you to @wildcareaustralia & @wireswildliferescue for rescuing these precious koalas.

Poor Athena has been suffering from chlamydia you can see she has conjunctivitis in her left eye (a symptom of chlamydia).

Did you know that in 2008 the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital saw just 27 koalas...now the vet team is seeing almost 600 koalas per year!?

More than half of the koalas are suffering from chlamydia. This disease does not discriminate & it affects females, males & even infant koala joeys.

Flora's Mum Athena has been suffering from chlamydia & there is a risk Flora may contract this disease too.

Please help to secure the future of koalas by donating today at currumbinwildlifehospital.org.au
