We've shown how we fit two piecies of wood together and how to make a wooden bead without a lathe ;)

Blackening the steel:
A mixture of caustic soda (700g), potasium saltpeter (250g) and water (1,2 l)
The temperature of the solution should be kept between 120 140 C.
I keep the knife inside for about 30 minutes to get consistent black colour, you can manipulate the time to achieve different results, shorter period should give you dark brown or purple ish colour.
Be careful this mixture is highly corrosive!
