Kinkalows are the hybridization of the munchkin and the American Curl, founded by Terri Herris. The ideal kinkalow is a shortstatured cat with ears that curl inward. It is possible for kinkalow litters to include kittens with short or long legs and with straight or curled ears. They come in all different colours and patterns. They are currently being registered by The Designer Cat Association (TDCA).
Kinkalow The first Kinkalow was deliberate breeding, by Terri Harris, of the American Curl to a Munchkin, born 1/10/1997, and produced a dwarf cat with curled ears. His name was Munchkinlane's, Kinkalow Louie. The name originated from the curled ears & short legs. They have not approached any Association for registration yet. Kinkalow Drawt Purebred American Curl x Purebred Munchkin = Hybrid Kinkalow Cat Introduction The Kinkalow dwarf cat is a deliberate outcross (a hybrid) between the founding dwarf cat the Munchkin and an American Curl. An "outcrossing" is a form of breeding when unrelated cats parent the chosen offspring. This is in contrast to "line breeding" when cats that are related are bred. Origin The breed was established in the mid1990s by Terri Harris (the first elected Munchkin Breed Clair in The International Cat Association TICA).
