The King Nymph is one of my favorite prospect nymphing patterns because of the effectiveness of the materials and the appearance of life in the fly when it's in the water. Peacock herl is always a good material for nymphs because of it's iridescence. The rabbit dubbing's soft fur and spiky guard hairs move in the current and help the fly to have more action along with partridge feather soft fibered tail and hackle collar. The rabbit fur also absorbs water that helps weight the fly and keep it drifting subsurface. I fish this pattern both as a single fly or as a point fly on a two nymph leader.
