Believe it or not, what you saw was what happened that night. Nothing was planned and Kido was not previously trained. No food, catnip, laser pointer or human finger pointing involved like some viewers claimed. Besides, if there was food involved, he would be too excited and wouldn't focus on the game. For some reasons, he's one of the few that does not respond to catnip. For laser pointer, I don't have one and won't use one on him because I think it's not good for his eyes. Some people said I trained him or told him to pick particular cup. I did not. If he listens, that would actually make him smarter than he already is.
Animals are smarter than what we give them credit for, and the fact that Kido was willing to play along and got it right every time was priceless to me. I honestly don't know how he did it. Maybe it was a combination of hearing and seeing. Whichever case it was, I don't care. I know he's smart and I don't need to keep testing him to prove to the world. I don't train him because I don't know how. He has very strong personality and only does what he wants. All I have been doing is to keep my phone handy so that I can capture as much funny and surprising moment as I can.
