Kelowna Versus Calgary: Which City is Better to Live in?

Follow
Kelley Skar - LiveLoveKelowna

If you had to choose which city to live in, Kelowna or Calgary, which one would you pick?

It is a tough choice, there is no doubt but after having spent 18 of the last 23 years in Calgary, I can offer some insight that not a lot of local Kelowna Realtors can.

We moved our family to Kelowna over a year ago now and we love it here, we also loved Calgary and felt it was a great place to raise a family. It's a large centre with an international airport (Kelowna has one of those!), shopping until all hours of the night, endless restaurants, pubs and bars, everything is open on Sundays and decent infrastructure which makes getting around the city pretty easy.

Now, I only covered off 4 differences between Calgary and Kelowna in this video, I didn't want it to go on and on, there are so many though that I could probably do a follow up video with another 4 and still not cover it all.

The biggest difference we have seen between Kelowna and Calgary has been the weather. It is currently the end of October and we have yet to see any temperatures below zero in fact it was 17 degrees today when I was shooting this video.

Calgary has snow right now and it is not uncommon for that snow to stick around until the end of April, we are golfing here in Kelowna at that time for almost two months. There is no doubt that Kelowna is more expensive in certain ways but cheaper in others, like car insurance and utilities and property taxes.

We moved here for a lifestyle change, a change of pace and scenery, to get out of the big city and give our kids an experience of living in a smaller centre. We are happy we did.

If you are thinking about relocation or if you are here in Kelowna and you are considering selling your home and buying your first home, I can help you with all of it.
