In 2002 Type O Negative was approached by the WWF to create an entrance track for Kane's return and what they got back was 'Out of the Fire' which was described as 'Peter's baby' in an interview by Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey.
Hickey went on to express how much time and effort went into curating this track and personal investment from vocalist Peter Steele who "guided" the band members throughout the entire composition of that song.
Kenny Hickey: "We get a call, and WWE doesn't want to use our work anymore because they had different plans for the character where they wanted him to be a bit more on the "normal" side and what we composed was too dark. Peter was bummed out by this because it was an opportunity for us to get back out there."
If anyone remembers watching WWE at this time, Kane was going through a transition, so we started seeing him without his iconic mask and later, a shaved head.
