This is the start of our build proper with our building partner starting on the footings. We discovered "pitch fibre pipe" which neither us or indeed our builder had heard of. Pitch fibre pipe seems to be another product innovation from the last century that should never have been invented. It was seen as a cheap alternative to clay pipe that was easy to install. It proved to ba a bit of a failure and a time bomb (perhaps our survey should have warned us). Thankfully we think we can replace most of it and leave the redundant pipes in the ground. What we remove may contain asbestos so we need to test before we do anything with it.
