LESSON NOTES:
The etude in this video was written by John, based on the chord progression of the tune 'Con Alma' by the great Dizzy Gillespie. It starts with a 12/8 Latin groove that switches into 4/4 for the B section then back to 12/8 again. In this video, John demonstrates both grooves and switches between them, explaining how to keep an internal pulse to ground you. He then performs the tune with his fantastic band, featuring Caroline Boaden on drums and Jamil Sheriff on piano at 02:03.

Don't forget, you can download the transcription, and play along with the band using the backing tracks on our website: https://discoverdoublebass.com/lesson...
