Johann S. Bach – Esurientes (BWV 243) – Transcipt. for two guitars

“I like music more than the guitar”: that’s what I once said to myself to apologize to myself for not being a guitar virtuoso. I read somewhere that it takes ten thousand hours of practice to become an excellent guitarist. Well, if that’s true, it seems I didn’t love the guitar enough to put that many hours into it. This is undoubtedly why I preferred writing for the guitar to mastering a repertoire for this instrument – I leave that to others.

Shortly after completing a long project of arranging and broadcasting songs by Félix Leclerc on YouTube, I began transcribing European musical pieces from the 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries for guitar. To do this, I sit at the computer, the classical guitar (nylon strings) on my knees, and I write my scores, measure by measure, note by note, using specialized software (Guitar Pro). Then, I integrate my score into a video so that the listener can hear and visualize the progress of the musical piece. After that, all that remains is to broadcast on the internet.

The music you hear will be performed by the software. Some will say that this performance lacks soul, and we might not be wrong (it’s a machine, after all!), but the musical genius of the composer – the one behind the piece, not me – still noticeable, right? I wish you a pleasant listening time.
