For centuries Jews around the world have celebrated Passover to commemorate their deliverance from slavery in Egypt.  But when Jesus shared His last Passover with His disciples, He expanded their understanding of Passover—that it was not simply looking back to their deliverance from the slavery of Egypt, but looking forward to a greater deliverance for all people from the slavery of sin!  Join Pastor Gary for today’s teaching as he compares the Old Testament regulations for Passover to the New Testament fulfillment in Christ!

23:35 Paul: “…Chris, our PASSOVER LAMB, has been sacrificed.” (1 Cor. 5:7, ESV)
23:49 John the Baptist: “Behold, the LAMB OF GOD, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29, NKJV)
24:02 How is Jesus our Passover Lamb? What does that mean for each of us?
24:23 1) The lamb was selected/inspected on the 10th of Nisan (Exodus 12:3). Jesus was selected/inspected on the 10th Nisan (Palm Sunday) when He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey (Luke 19:2848)
25:16 2) The sacrificial lamb was to be a “yea old male” (Exodus 12:5). Jesus died in the prime of His life
25:26 3) The lamb was to be “without defect” (Exodus 12:5) Jesus was a sinless sacrifice “ a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:19)
25:55 4) The lamb was to eb sacrificed on the 14th Nisan at “twilight” [3pm6pm] (Exodus 12:6). Jesus would have been crucified on the 14th Nisan and He died “at the ninth hour” [3pm Roman time] (Matt. 27:45)
26:51 5) The bread (matzah) of Passover was without yeast (Exodus 12:8). Jesus was the “bread of life” without sin (John 6:48; Heb. 4:15)
27:10 6) The lamb was to be sacrificed without breaking a bone (Exodus 12:46). Jesus was crucified and “not a bone was broken” (John 19:36, Psalm 34:20)
28:16 7) The blood of the lamb was God’s gracious provision to save the Jews in Egypt. The blood of Jesus was God’s gracious provision to save both Jews and Gentiles in the world!
28:27 Passover PAST (through Moses) commemorates the deliverance of the Jews from the slavery of Egypt.
28:36 Passover PRESENT(through Jesus) commemorates the deliverance of ALL WHO BELIEVE from the slavery of sin.
