Russia’s aggression against Ukraine shows no signs of abating. To date, over eight million people have fled Ukraine. People in Afghanistan, South Sudan, and many other regions worldwide are also currently facing situations of conflict or oppression. This has drawn renewed attention to the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda based on the UN Security Council resolutions. The agenda recognizes that women and girls are often disproportionately impacted by conflict and the victims of sexual violence and human trafficking. It also highlights the importance of their positive participation in conflict prevention, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and peacekeeping. We follow Japanese women working in countries where many residents are striving to live in peace.
