Soon after a nocturnal bat (unidentified) came flying to instantly drink water from a montane pond, a field mouse [either Large Japanese field mouse (Apodemus speciosus, family Muridae) or Small Japanese field mouse (Apodemus argenteus, family Muridae)] appeared at the shoreline. The field mouse swam a little in the shallow spring to take a shortcut and then vanished into the grassy trail. The swimming behaviour in the darkness was replayed at 3x slowmotion (@0:39). 6.5 Hours later, it came back to the pond to forage for food but the mouse didn’t swim there this time. Captured at night of earlyAugust 2022 in Japan.
