A smart, sweet cat, the Japanese Bobtail is happiest among people and features a soft, melodious voice that wins the hearts of listeners.

The Japanese Bobtail is a mediumsized cat that has both longhair and shorthair varieties. Males are bigger than females. They are long, slender cats with highly developed muscles that enable them to jump great heights. The head of the Bobtail is an equilateral triangle with the tall ears standing upright on the top of the head and tilted slightly forward. The cheekbones are prominent. The eyes are rounded when viewed from the front but slanted when viewed from the side. The nose has a gentle dip.

The hind legs on the bobtail are longer than the front legs, but she stands in a level stance. The naturally occurring short, kinked tail is as individual as a fingerprint, and no two are the same. This tail is full and complete with all the vertebrae found in the tail of the longtailed cats. In essence, the tail is shorter than that of other breeds but can still be seen. The kinking of the tail causes the fur on the tail to spread or stand out creating a look similar to that of a bunny tail. In the long hair Japanese Bobtail, the extra length of the fur on the tail may cause the tail to the plume.

The Japanese Bobtail is playful and smart. He will relish the challenge of a rotating assortment of puzzle toys or the fun of chasing a lure on a fishing pole toy. He is very good at learning tricks and will even walk on a leash if he thinks it’s a fun thing to do. When you are sitting down, though, expect this friendly feline to find a place in your lap. If you're planning to have these smart, and sweet cats, you can get one of them on these reputable Japanese Bobtail cat breeders.

Janipurr Japanese Bobtails.

Janipurr Japanese Bobtails has bred and loved Japanese bobtails since 1990, formerly Janipurr Birmans. All colors and patterns are bred but they specialize in smokes and silvers.

Bobtails are a semiforeign, shorttailed breed known all over Southeast Asia, but especially Japan. Their personalities are active, inquisitive, and fearless. People who acquire their first bobtail often wonder later how they ever lived without them!
Male Japanese Bobtails tend to be outgoing, obnoxious, affectionate, and they pretty much like anyone they meetespecially if they have food! Though they enjoyed their closest bond with red and white neuter for the last ten years, he really never met a stranger!

Females tend to form more intense, singleperson type bonds, very attached to their chosen one but not necessarily friendly with strangers or other cats. If you want a cat that will spend hours in your lap, get a female. All are very active, intelligent, curious, and foodoriented, though they do tend to be very good for homes with other cats, dogs, children, and general chaos since their greatest strength seems to be their ability to adapt.

Kenipurr Japanese Bobtails.

They started showing cats in February 1976, with a household pet they adopted from the Yolo County Animal Shelter in Woodland, California. Through their participation in the shows, they met many wonderful people and learned about cat fancy and pedigreed cats.

Kenipurr cattery was first registered in CFA in September 1979, then later in ACFA and TICA. They began in Sunnyvale, California, then moved to the Puget Sound area of Washington state in 1983. They live near Tacoma, WA. Through the cat shows, they became interested in the Japanese Bobtails and received their first shorthaired Japanese Bobtail, GrPr Kurisumasu Jin of Kenipurr, in September of 1996.

They are a member of the CFA Japanese Bobtail breed council. They are also a member of the Japanese Bobtail Breeders Society, Japanese Bobtail Fanciers, and the Longhair Japanese Bobtail Breeders' Club. They are an active member of several showproducing clubs in the upper Northwest, as well as participating in local and national breed rescue.
