Old Fashioned Buttermilk Cake

INGREDIENTS
For the cake:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup boiling water
1 cup melted butter 2 sticks
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla

For the frosting:
16oz powdered sugar
1/2 cup melted butter 1 stick
6 tablespoons milk or enough to make it a pourable consistency
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°.
Grease and flour 11 X 17 baking sheet with nonstick spray.
Whisk the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
Melt butter in a pot on the stovetop over medium heat.
Add the water and bring to a boil.
Add the water and butter to the dry mixture and whisk until combined.
Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla whisking until combined. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 1618 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Make frosting immediately.
Melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
Pour over warm cake.
NOTE: Like I said in the video, I would let the frosting cool before topping the cake if you are using a pan that is not deep. That way you don't loose a lot of your frosting by the overflow...
If yours is a deep one, then it should be fine.
