IshbiBenob was a Philistine warrior descended from giants. The story of IshbiBenob is wellknown in the Bible because he nearly defeated King David during a battle. IshbiBenob was imposing and skilled in combat. The head of his spear alone weighed more than three kilograms. He was a descendant of the Rephaim and likely lived in Nob.

The biblical text informs us that in a certain battle, King David was already very tired and could not defeat IshbiBenob on his own. Then, when the Philistine giant was about to end his life, Abishai, David's nephew, defeated the giant IshbiBenob and saved David's life. After this confrontation with IshbiBenob, King David, who was seen as the “Lamp of Israel,” was advised by his men not to fight in battles anymore.
