Is Your Ford 4.6/5.0/5.4/6.8 2V, 3V or 4V Engine Misfiring / Shaking at 4550 MPH in Overdrive? Then Watch this!

If you are driving at 4550 MPH and you are giving the engine a bit of gas, without forcing a downshift, in overdrive, you are lugging the engine. Often times as the Coil on Plugs (COPs) get corroded, you will start to have a misfire that is not severe enough for a Check Engine Light (CEL). It will however cause a shaking or bucking with your vehicle, that likely goes away when you force a down shift, speed up around 60mph, or shut off over drive. Sound familiar?

This pertains to many vehicles, and often times people mistake the misfire in Overdrive, for a transmission or torque converter issue. While that sometimes is the issue, more than likely, is it that one or more of your Coil On Plugs is corroded. This causes arching and a poor electrical signal to the spark plug, and you get a misfire.

Instead of paying for crappy aftermarket or expensive snake oil "performance" coil on plugs, simply rebuild your good quality OEM coils, for cheap. Clean the connector, and install new springs and boots. You will need to check the availability on a site like Rock Auto for your specific vehicle.
