Solo dance offers figure skaters without partners, the opportunity to participate in ice dance at a competitive level. It also teaches developing skaters critical skills early on that can help them improve their skating skills for free skating or to prepare them for the possibility of skating with a partner. Solo dance offers a competitive environment for skaters who may not be interested or have grown tired of jumping. It also provides a genderneutral environment for a competitive ice dance with an even playing field for all genders. More than that, solo dance is a way to find a community and stay involved in the sport if you prefer ice dancing to free skating and don't have a partner.
