By simply using two washers on your bolt at the top and at the bottom, the bookcase door can hold over 2 hundred pounds of books. What you have is a bookcase that holds your books and when opened takes you into another room.
A very functional Bookcase/Door that opens with just one bolt, no piano hinge, or hinges of any kind.
The bolts, two 3/4" length as needed. Two 3/4" nuts (these are locking aircraft nuts that you can find at most any hardware store. eight washers that fit the bolts.
Place washer under head of bolt, one washer under the nut. Two washers between the moving parts. The tightness is perfect when the bookcase moves smoothly and the bolts do not turn. The ware on these bolts should be none.
