Introducing... Captain Nemo a Landseer Newfoundland puppy!

I haven't posted anything about it on here but wanted to let you guys know that in May I lost my beloved Newfie, Captain Morgan Black aka "Cappy". He was nearly 11 years old and had degnerative arthritis. It got MUCH worse the last month of his life to the point where he couldn't walk without falling down. He'd also fall down the few steps in and out of my home.

Since it would have been really hard to get him into my car as immobile as he'd gotten and not wanting to hurt him further in doing so, I found this amazing mobile that came to my house. We let him go under his beloved butterfly bush that I'd had as long as I'd had Cappy. The next month more and larger blooms than I've ever seen it. I'll miss you, Cappy. You were such a great dog.

I figured I'd rescue another Newfie after Cappy was gone. But then a couple weeks after I lost Cappy I found a really great AKC breeder just a few hours from me who'd had a litter just a week before I lost Cappy.

So, this video is to introduce to Captain Nemo, a little Landseer (black and white) Newfoundland pup born on May 10th, 2023, that I just picked up from his breeder on July 9th when he was 8 1/2 weeks old.

This video is of pics the breeder sent me of him before I got him up till the day I picked him up. The last few pics/videos are that first night at home.

He did surprisingly well with the kitties the first night. The he decided he wanted to pounce on and mouth on Pru (who just politely wiggles herself loose) and barks at/playfully chases Moon Pie, Caramel and Rudy. I tell him "NO!" if he gets too rambunctious but the cats just really need to give him a couple hard nose wallops so he respects them. I'll post more videos of our first couple weeks together.

He's now 10 1/2 weeks and can already walk at a perfect heel on a leash! We only go up and down our block and I keep my eye out for other dogs since it's another several weeks till he's done with his series of puppy shots. After then I'll be able to walk around downtown Mount Vernon which I love, take him to dogfriendly pubs, parks, etc. Can't wait till I can see him swimming like Cappy loved! There's some gorgeous beaches just 10 minutes from here I can take him to.

His name, obviously, came from the submarine captain from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", my alltime favourite book. My last dog, a black Newfie, was Captain Morgan Black. My dog before him, a black and white half Labrador/half Landseer Newfoundland (like Nemo) was Captain Jake.
