International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who laid the foundation of professional nursing with the establishment of her nursing school at St Thomas' Hospital in London, the first secular nursing school in the world.
This year's IND focuses on a brighter future for nurses and how the nursing profession can colead the changes towards equitable health for all.
On this occasion, Katerina Iliopoulou, ESICM Chair of the Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals Committee, reflects on the lessons learned during the COVID19 pandemic.
In addition, several ESICM members share what it means to them to be an Intensive Care nurse.
