Script she uses: This is the initial message I send as soon as I start shopping. A customers response or lack of should give you a good idea of how much communication they would like from you. Don’t spam them with messages if they don’t seem receptive to it. It can also be a good practice to send photos of replacement options, empty shelves, etc.

Hello! This is Stephanie. I will begin your shopping now. Please keep in mind that store shelves may not be fully stocked. Chains are limiting purchase of some items and they do NOT make exceptions for Instacart.

Keep an eye on your app for changes. I will do my best to find suitable replacements. It’s most efficient if you use the app to approve or reject my replacements, rather than going through chat. With that being said, I will be available through chat if you need to speak with me. Thanks!

When I have around 35 items left I always send this message. This message covers your @#$. You have now given them at least two opportunities to decline replacement items you’ve selected.

Additionally, adding items almost always results in a higher tip. If I haven’t heard from the customer after this message I may try calling them.

I’m almost finished shopping. Please review your order to ensure you are satisfied with the changes I have made. Is there anything else I can grab for you?
